“My journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the impact of determined role models. My mother, a single parent who sacrificed her own dreams to ensure my brother and I received the best education, served as my earliest source of inspiration. Despite being unable to complete her law degree due to societal expectations to marry and care for her family, my mother instilled in me the importance of education and the courage to pursue one’s passions.
Determined to address the injustices I’ve witnessed, particularly regarding gender inequality, I chose to study law. My education equipped me with the tools to challenge societal norms and advocate for those who lack a voice. Today, as a partner at Avya Law Firm, I lead the Innovation & Technology Group, where I handle a variety of general business and complex litigation cases. My work includes representing clients from recent protests, epitomizing my dedication to fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves.
The pro-bono work I engage in, particularly in human rights, education, and environmental conservation, is what I find most rewarding. I attribute my position at the firm, and my ability to champion these causes, to the education I received and the support of The Spark of Hope Foundation. This support was instrumental in my academic success and professional growth.
Reflecting on my time in Switzerland, I cherish the diverse cultural exchange and friendships formed with individuals from around the globe. These connections have inspired my dream of creating an expansive network of international lawyers to collaboratively tackle global legal challenges. My experience also broadened my perspective on environmental sustainability, particularly in waste management practices, which I hope to implement in my home country of Indonesia.
Equipped with my education and inspired by my mother’s sacrifices, I am committed to returning the favor to those treated unjustly. I aspire to fulfill my mother’s dream and continue to pave the way for women and marginalized communities, ensuring they not only dream, but also achieve. My story embodies the mission to redefine societal roles and champion equality and justice at every opportunity.”
